Rocket Rundown May 14th

Assumption has hired Stacy Pendleton as the head basketball coach.  Pendleton is best known for his time at DuPont Manual where he coached from 2004 to 2013. In nine seasons at the helm, Pendleton’s record was 240-58 and he led his team to the elusive KHSAA state title in 2012. His teams at Manual made 4 final four appearances (2008, 2011 Runner-Up, 2012 Champion, 2013) and were LIT champions in 2011 and 2012.

Stacy is a great addition to our coaching staff and we are excited to invite our girls to meet him this week.

We invite all potential players and parents to attend a meet and greet with Coach Pendleton on Wednesday, May 16th at 6:00pm in the Assumption High School Theater.

In sports last week, Monday evening Varsity softball beat Shelby County at home.  Varsity won 6-3.  JV lost by 2.

Tuesday evening, AHS played Oldham County at Ulmer Stadium. The Rockets played a hard fought game, dropping to Oldham County in the bottom of the 7th inning 4-3. It was a fun night of softball as both teams competed well!  Braxton Downs and Jordan Ridge each had 2 hits.  Wednesday evening, Assumption played Ballard at the Green.  Our Varsity team lost by 2 and our JV team won 6-5.  It was a special night as AHS retired Assistant Coach Morgan Foley’s jersey.

Assumption’s Lacrosse season has come to an end.  JV Lacrosse Defeated Mercy Friday night in the first round of the Ballard JV Invitational.

The Seventh Region tennis tournament was held at Sacred Heart last week.  Assumption High School is the KHSAA Region Team Runner Up!  Assumption’s Sarah Cook was awarded the Sportsmanship Award at the tournament.  Congratulations, Sarah!

Assumption Tennis is 5th in the State and will be represented by Gabby Tinsley, Sarah Fitzgerald, Allison Fitzgerald, Jillian Stigler and Alia Ahmadi as they head to Lexington to compete at State this week.  Gabby will play singles.  Sarah and Allison will play doubles, and Jillian and Alia will play doubles.  Good luck to these ladies as they head to Lexington!
